It’s that day again, that everyone so dreads… Monday … *groans*

Went to watch ‘This Is It’ on Friday night (yayers!), and wow… MJ is pure music genius prodigy. There is one and will only ever be one MJ – King of Pop! If you haven’t seen it, go watch it!

Saturday.. Saturday… OH, did a little shopping at Bondi Junction, got a floppy tee for random outings (to cover my pretruding belly, OH THE HORROR!), headed to Bondi Beach in search for Sculptures by the Sea, failed to find the sculptures (where is it? I probably didn’t look hard enough), and settled for dinner at Hurricanes to calm the grumbling tummies. Oh how I love thy meat and ribs… yes, I am a self confessed carnivore and carboholic, it can’t be helped!

And finally, yesterday entailed a trip to the Taronga Zoo courtesy of Kellogg’s buy one get one free deal (booyah!). Sucks that GETTING there was a major pain in the ^#~!@%& @$$!!!! Hate.. hate.. HATE Sydney traffic and roads and transportation altogether. Why must everything be so far away? Or expensive? Grrr >=/

Weather was awesome for a zoo outing, and the view of the harbour from the zoo, spectacular! I felt like I was in Madagascar cause all the cast was out on show. Alex the lion was napping in the shade, Marty the Zebra was meditating with his ass to the crowd whilst wagging his tail every now and then, Melman the giraffe was chomping down carrots whilst taking happy snaps with kids, and Gloria the hippo was chowing down food and waddling around in her pen. Standout animals for the day, gorillas and meerkats! Oh fatso the wombat! And seals and elephants! Plus the koala and kangaroos! Oh, they’re all so cute! No pandas though… BUT there ARE giant pandas in Adelaide.. and they will be there for the next 10 years! *rub hands gleefully* Can’t wait to see those gentle giants!!

Then, we’re back to today… I’m sleepy, sore all over and cbb. Counting down to the weekend! 4 more days to go!

Sunday.. *sigh* Sunday was wet, windy, cold but not cold, miserable… not accounting the fact that I, the dumbass, lost my phone! Where? I don’t know, I’m guessing it was at the Stratty station when I was tackling the non-moving travelator to catch the train when my little mini brick decided it was time to leave me! GRSSS. So there I was, on the train, tired and phone less. After countless tries trying to contact my little brick and guilt tripping, heart felt messages to the stranger who scored a free brick that day, it was no use. An end of an era, ’twas time to say goodbye. Thanks for the memories Samsung D508 — even if I dropped you a kazillion times and even pancaked you between asphalt and my connies, it was a good solid 5 years… It looks like I’m just left with your umbilical cord… aka, phone charger.

Phew, after my lost, Nomz and I arrived at Circular Quay ready to tackle the Opera House, the crowd (oh boy!) and the weather! We met up with DS and surveyed all the lines, hoping to choose the shortest and quickest one possible. Two minutes of lining up, and we’re being advised to scoot up the stairs into The Studio, Playhouse and Drama Theatre. Insert touristy comment here : “OMG, I’M IN THE SYDNEY OPERA HOUSE… COOOOOOOOOOOL!! AWESOME!! WOWWWWWWWW!”. Straight after the short tour, Nomz and DS needed their caffeine dosage of the day, so we had a mini break, got caffeined up before tackling the next tour. (Three tours in total).

Luckily for us, I got “Priority Passes” where we get to bypass EVERYONE and go straight through into the Opera Theatre and Concert Hall… SCORE!! We climb the stairs and proceed to the first room – Utzon Room where a pianist was playing the piano to a small crowd of people, a trail of spectators appreciating his talents, as well as taking in the view of the harbour made possible by the wall of windows… pity the weather was rather grey and moody in stark contrast to the buzz inside the Utzon Room.

Next stop: the Opera Theatre with the Mikado set on stage! And the orchestra area down stairs… COOOOOOOOOL!

And finally, the Concert Hall! Wow, when will I ever get the chance to step foot into this place ever again? Well, I probably could come back if I wanted to watch a performance here, but not anytime soon! I’ll let the pictures speak for themselves.. or not. One word to some up the hall? “Awesomesauce!!!” – courtesy of platonic blogger friend – ooh, my first blog plug – HA HA!

Once we reach the end, we bail out on the remaining tour (I.e. backstage tour) and proceed on getting some food at the Lowenbrau, only to be sidetracked for 15minutes by these fellas on unicycles. (Forgot their group name and website… fail!)

The Oktoberfest was on at the Lowenbrau (although I don’t think it would’ve made a huge difference if it wasn’t Oktoberfest due to crapola weather); we proceeded downstairs to shy away from the weather and got ourselves into the food and the beer… oh the beeeeeeeeeeeeer! Straight after the Lowenbrau, we attempted to shop down George St but was denied by many.. MANY closed door signs and reverted to another beer bar.. Belgian Bier Cafe. Yayer!

Chilled there for a couple of hours before heading back home, asked the ticketing man at Strathfield if anyone turned in a phone, but no. Game over for sure.

And that my friends and readers, was my Sunday. What’s on this weekend?! MJ This Is It on Friday night; if the weather permits, a trip to Taronga Zoo (YAYER – oh how excited I am!), dinner on Saturday night – I might try Harry De Wheels (so I can mark it off my to eat list, haha!) AND possibly a trip to the beach to see the sea sculptures! Bring it on weekenddddddddddd!!

26 10 2009

What a corker of a weekend! It’s the last week of October already, Halloween on Saturday anyone?

This past weekend kicked off on Friday with a massive (and I literally mean, MASSIVE) dinner at Maya Tandoori with a few work colleagues. We ate soooooo much! TOO MUCH, and if you ever wondered why at Indian restaurants they don’t give you a lot, it’s cause, one, you will barely finish it; and two, their curries are unbelievably heavy and rich therefore the small portion size and you know what, they’re right! I was literally gasping for air after consuming shit loads of food in the one sitting, was on the verge of explosion if anyone were to poke me at the very moment! PHEW.

After dinner, we all headed to a nearby bar, Bar Cleveland to drown our sorrows in some much needed alcohol. Actually, I take that back, we didn’t need alcohol, nor did we have any sorrows to drown, but it’s a Friday night, and a drink or two to kick of the weekend seemed to be on the menu, so why the hell not. =)

Daniel and Anna piked early so the rest of us just sat back and conversed the night away before heading home around midnight.

I, for starters, konked out at 1 whilst Nomis stayed up til 3 on the internet and watching TV – yay for crappy ass reality tv shows that are an absolute joke but still pull viewers like ourselves in! =D

Saturday proved to be a super SUPER SUPER … super underwhelming and slobby day, not that it bothered me but HOT DAMN, the weather was so nice and it was gone to waste compared to the horrible shit ass weather that bestowed upon Sydney the following day – Sunday (which was an active day, hence we needed the good weather)!!!

A world record was achieved family record was achieved by yours truly, Naomi; FOR the most unproductive day ever; COMPLETED SUCCESFULLY BY being awake for 6 hours in the span of 31 hours.

Here’s how:
SAT 24/10 0300-1345 SLEEP = 10 hours and 45 minutes
SAT 24/10 1345-1945 AWAKE = 6 hours
SAT 24/10 1945-1000 SLEEP = 14 hours and 15 minutes (SAT through to SUN)
TOTAL hours of inactivity/hibernation = 25 hours
TOTAL hours of cooking, eating, watching tv and socialising = 6 hours

Justification: “I’m making the most of it. Once I move back home, my mummah ain’t gonna let me sleep in like this, she’d chop me into pieces, and so my head went that way and my legs went that way.”

Fair point.

I still love you, even if you hibernate like a sloth. Ha ha~
