Sunday.. *sigh* Sunday was wet, windy, cold but not cold, miserable… not accounting the fact that I, the dumbass, lost my phone! Where? I don’t know, I’m guessing it was at the Stratty station when I was tackling the non-moving travelator to catch the train when my little mini brick decided it was time to leave me! GRSSS. So there I was, on the train, tired and phone less. After countless tries trying to contact my little brick and guilt tripping, heart felt messages to the stranger who scored a free brick that day, it was no use. An end of an era, ’twas time to say goodbye. Thanks for the memories Samsung D508 — even if I dropped you a kazillion times and even pancaked you between asphalt and my connies, it was a good solid 5 years… It looks like I’m just left with your umbilical cord… aka, phone charger.

Phew, after my lost, Nomz and I arrived at Circular Quay ready to tackle the Opera House, the crowd (oh boy!) and the weather! We met up with DS and surveyed all the lines, hoping to choose the shortest and quickest one possible. Two minutes of lining up, and we’re being advised to scoot up the stairs into The Studio, Playhouse and Drama Theatre. Insert touristy comment here : “OMG, I’M IN THE SYDNEY OPERA HOUSE… COOOOOOOOOOOL!! AWESOME!! WOWWWWWWWW!”. Straight after the short tour, Nomz and DS needed their caffeine dosage of the day, so we had a mini break, got caffeined up before tackling the next tour. (Three tours in total).

Luckily for us, I got “Priority Passes” where we get to bypass EVERYONE and go straight through into the Opera Theatre and Concert Hall… SCORE!! We climb the stairs and proceed to the first room – Utzon Room where a pianist was playing the piano to a small crowd of people, a trail of spectators appreciating his talents, as well as taking in the view of the harbour made possible by the wall of windows… pity the weather was rather grey and moody in stark contrast to the buzz inside the Utzon Room.

Next stop: the Opera Theatre with the Mikado set on stage! And the orchestra area down stairs… COOOOOOOOOL!

And finally, the Concert Hall! Wow, when will I ever get the chance to step foot into this place ever again? Well, I probably could come back if I wanted to watch a performance here, but not anytime soon! I’ll let the pictures speak for themselves.. or not. One word to some up the hall? “Awesomesauce!!!” – courtesy of platonic blogger friend – ooh, my first blog plug – HA HA!

Once we reach the end, we bail out on the remaining tour (I.e. backstage tour) and proceed on getting some food at the Lowenbrau, only to be sidetracked for 15minutes by these fellas on unicycles. (Forgot their group name and website… fail!)

The Oktoberfest was on at the Lowenbrau (although I don’t think it would’ve made a huge difference if it wasn’t Oktoberfest due to crapola weather); we proceeded downstairs to shy away from the weather and got ourselves into the food and the beer… oh the beeeeeeeeeeeeer! Straight after the Lowenbrau, we attempted to shop down George St but was denied by many.. MANY closed door signs and reverted to another beer bar.. Belgian Bier Cafe. Yayer!

Chilled there for a couple of hours before heading back home, asked the ticketing man at Strathfield if anyone turned in a phone, but no. Game over for sure.

And that my friends and readers, was my Sunday. What’s on this weekend?! MJ This Is It on Friday night; if the weather permits, a trip to Taronga Zoo (YAYER – oh how excited I am!), dinner on Saturday night – I might try Harry De Wheels (so I can mark it off my to eat list, haha!) AND possibly a trip to the beach to see the sea sculptures! Bring it on weekenddddddddddd!!

What a corker of a weekend! It’s the last week of October already, Halloween on Saturday anyone?

This past weekend kicked off on Friday with a massive (and I literally mean, MASSIVE) dinner at Maya Tandoori with a few work colleagues. We ate soooooo much! TOO MUCH, and if you ever wondered why at Indian restaurants they don’t give you a lot, it’s cause, one, you will barely finish it; and two, their curries are unbelievably heavy and rich therefore the small portion size and you know what, they’re right! I was literally gasping for air after consuming shit loads of food in the one sitting, was on the verge of explosion if anyone were to poke me at the very moment! PHEW.

After dinner, we all headed to a nearby bar, Bar Cleveland to drown our sorrows in some much needed alcohol. Actually, I take that back, we didn’t need alcohol, nor did we have any sorrows to drown, but it’s a Friday night, and a drink or two to kick of the weekend seemed to be on the menu, so why the hell not. =)

Daniel and Anna piked early so the rest of us just sat back and conversed the night away before heading home around midnight.

I, for starters, konked out at 1 whilst Nomis stayed up til 3 on the internet and watching TV – yay for crappy ass reality tv shows that are an absolute joke but still pull viewers like ourselves in! =D

Saturday proved to be a super SUPER SUPER … super underwhelming and slobby day, not that it bothered me but HOT DAMN, the weather was so nice and it was gone to waste compared to the horrible shit ass weather that bestowed upon Sydney the following day – Sunday (which was an active day, hence we needed the good weather)!!!

A world record was achieved family record was achieved by yours truly, Naomi; FOR the most unproductive day ever; COMPLETED SUCCESFULLY BY being awake for 6 hours in the span of 31 hours.

Here’s how:
SAT 24/10 0300-1345 SLEEP = 10 hours and 45 minutes
SAT 24/10 1345-1945 AWAKE = 6 hours
SAT 24/10 1945-1000 SLEEP = 14 hours and 15 minutes (SAT through to SUN)
TOTAL hours of inactivity/hibernation = 25 hours
TOTAL hours of cooking, eating, watching tv and socialising = 6 hours

Justification: “I’m making the most of it. Once I move back home, my mummah ain’t gonna let me sleep in like this, she’d chop me into pieces, and so my head went that way and my legs went that way.”

Fair point.

I still love you, even if you hibernate like a sloth. Ha ha~

Sleep deprived… oh so sleep deprived!

After a life changing.. (ok, I may be over exaggerating a bit) but still, after a HUGE decision on what to do and where to go from here, it’s decided. This chapter will be closed and a new chapter to start within the coming months. Excitinggggggg! This relevation resulted in a massive lack of sleep… 4 hours more or less to be exact!

Surprisingly, Friday seemed to cruise by (from memory) and it wasn’t long til the weekend started… oh yeahhhhh~

We had dinner at home that night but headed out to Hungs’ rented apartment in World Square to hang and play poker with friends and acquaintances before Hungs’ big day. What a view the apartment had — 74th floor and I regretfully did NOT. BRING. MY. CAMERA. *DIESSSSSSSSSSSSSS* Just like the previous night, we didn’t get any shut eye til the wee hours of the morning.. and I mean wee!

Super woman! Hahahha!

Our roomie for the last couple of days; Kiki! She’s so cute!

Saturday was going to be a corker of a day! Nomz and Hien (friend bunking with us this weekend) plus two others got ready and proceeded to the wedding ceremony whilst I venture on my solo adventure to the harbour bridge. I was ready to tackle that baby down, and I sure did a good job out of it me thinks! Managed to clock up 16km, 25,000 steps and burnt off over 700 calories for the day (I’m not sure if burning off 700 calories is possible but that’s what my handy trusty pedometer said). Got dropped off at The Rocks, tackled the markets, searched for the bridge walk stairs (was walking circles.. gah!!), climbed the stairs, walked across the bridge, walked back across the bridge, climbed the Pylon, took a kazillion photos that they ended up looking the same after 100+ shots, crawled back down the stairs, legged and dodged patrons at The Rocks Markets (again!), speed walked on George St, detoured to Myer, bypassed everyone on the escalators all the way to level 5, bypassed everyone on the escalators all the way down to Ground level, FOUND *hallelujah!* T2, bought a few things and whilst waited for them to giftwrap say gift, mini pit stop at The Cupcake Bakery, devoured oneself in a red velvet cupcake, returned to T2, picked up gift and scooted back out onto George St, (running late now as I was to meet up with friend at Broadway in 20!), gunned down free bus (SCORE!), hopped off at Capitol Square, speed walked to Broadway… wait, mini pit stop at Bread Top cause I got hungry, continued speed walking to Broadway, ignored the travellator and flew up the stairs to level 2 and finally… FINALLY, collapsed huffed and puffed out in front of Karen.

This panoramic is so skewed but I can’t be bothered fixing it.. blah!

I finally got to watch Julie and Julia and boy, was I not satisfied! I don’t know if I have much to say about the movie, there were no high points, or low points… it pretty plateaued from the get go… Like I said, disappointing, and the food porn… OMG, fail! But at least, we both got free tickets, so all good in the hood!

After the movie and the well deserved rest, we legged it to Darling Harbour to just chat and mingle and people watch… cause you all know that people watching is fun and a great past time to have… it could almost be eye opening! Ha ha! It didn’t take long before we decided to grab some dinner as I figured that there’d be a long ass line at Din Tai Fung anyways, so best we line up and get hungry in the process and hopefully our number will be called. Dinner was sufficient and enjoyable but it’s definitely not a place I’d go to again. Especially knowing that I could get the same thing for a fraction of the price.. like another of my friend said, it’s an upmarket version of a Chinese restaurant in a food court with a more efficient and speedy service. Review or rant, go here > (link to come).

After satisfying our hunger pangs, we went walkies around Chinatown, either in search of a bar to have a cocktail or dessert to feed Karen’s durian ice cream crave. Unfortunately, for me that is, the sky decided to open up and start raining (GAH!! I was in a tshirt). We ran around china town in search of some ice cream (ice cream trumped cocktails for the night) and ended up at Passionflower Capitol Square. Yay and nay.. I have a love hate relationship at this parlour.

Before you know it, it’s almost midnight and I gotsa bus it home in the rain… gahhhhh. Managed to get home a-ok, just a little worse for wear in terms of being semi drenched and completely sore all over. Got myself cleaned up, a hot cuppa and time for bed.

Oh yeah, what happened to Nomz and Hien you might ask? They went to the wedding ceremony, headed to the shops cause Hien needed a new dress, went back home, got ready and headed to the reception where they had a great time! Pics to come!

And to wrap up the weekend, the whole house didn’t get up til 2PM in the arvo, we (Nomz, Hien, Hong and myself) headed to Chinatown, grabbed a bite to eat at Kura which equalled as my breakfast, lunch and dinner, dropped by Hungs’ house, chilled for a bit and headed home again. Sunday was a short day, which unfortunately meant that Monday was inching closer and closer, and what do you know.. it’s Monday today.

Just half an hour to go and I’m a day closer to the weekend!

**Apologies for any spelling or grammar errors.. haven’t gotten a chance to reread this but will do so tonight, or tomorrow, or the day after! Or neverrrrrr!
